Frequently Asked Questions

You can download the official OurMatrimony Android application directly from the Google Play Store by clicking any 'Download the App' or 'Get it on Google Play' button on this website. This website serves as our official brand and information portal; all profile browsing and matchmaking features take place inside the mobile app.

OurMatrimony is currently available for Android smartphones and tablets via the Google Play Store (package ID: com.ourmatrimony). Web-based profile browsing and iOS versions are not currently offered.

Open the OurMatrimony Android app and sign in using your 10-digit Indian mobile number (+91) and a 6-digit OTP sent via SMS. Once verified, follow the 6-step guided onboarding flow to enter your personal details, family background, physical attributes, interests, 3 to 6 photos, and optional horoscope details (Date, Place, and Time of Birth, Raasi, Nakshatra, and Gothram).

Yes, downloading the app, registering with your mobile number, creating your 6-step matrimonial profile, and browsing matches on the home screen are free. Instead of requiring expensive multi-month subscriptions, OurMatrimony uses a flexible Pay-As-You-Go Wallet powered by Razorpay. You can recharge small amounts (starting from ₹50 or ₹100) and spend wallet balance only when you choose to unlock specific actions such as viewing a full profile, revealing a verified contact number, generating a detailed horoscope match report, requesting locked photos, or sending chat messages.

Key implemented features include: (1) Daily Matches, Recommended Profiles, and Recent Additions feeds; (2) Search and filters by name, city, and religion; (3) Built-in 36-point Vedic Ashta Koota horoscope matching with Dosha and Gothra checks; (4) Optional Aadhaar OTP KYC identity verification via Digio; (5) Granular privacy toggles for profile photos, online status, last seen, and phone search; (6) Saved Profiles (favorites) and Profile Visitors tracking; (7) Protected in-app chat with anti-spam filters; and (8) Refer & Earn wallet bonuses.

OurMatrimony includes an automated Vedic Ashta Koota compatibility calculator. Using both members' birth details (Date of Birth, Time of Birth, Place of Birth, Raasi, and Nakshatra), it calculates compatibility out of 36 points across 8 Kootas: Varna (1), Vashya (2), Tara (3), Yoni (4), Graha Maitri (5), Gana (6), Bhakoot (7), and Nadi (8), along with Gothra and Manglik/Nadi Dosha indicators. If a member has not yet added their birth time or place, you can request those details directly inside the chat.

Every user registers with an OTP-verified mobile number, and OurMatrimony provides an optional 'Get Verified' Aadhaar KYC workflow (powered by Digio) that cross-checks a member's 12-digit Aadhaar OTP against their profile Name and Date of Birth. Profiles that complete this check display a blue Verified badge. Because identity verification is optional and user-initiated, not every profile is Aadhaar-verified, and we encourage users and families to verify background details independently before making matrimonial commitments.

In the app's Privacy settings, you can turn off 'Show Profile Photos' at any time. When disabled, your photos appear blurred with a lock icon to other users until someone sends a photo request and you explicitly approve it in chat. Your phone number and family contact details remain locked by default, and our in-app chat automatically blocks raw phone numbers and copy-paste spam.

You can block or report any user directly from the chat screen using the Block & Report option, or report concerns to our support team. Blocking a user immediately stops them from messaging you and hides their profile across your Home feed, Search results, Saved Profiles, and Horoscope Matching screens.

Yes. You can delete your account at any time from the Privacy Settings screen inside the OurMatrimony app ('Delete Account'). Account deletion removes your profile, uploaded photos, saved lists, and chat history from active discovery.
